VIOLET BELL

VIOLET BELL

“One of the best duos working in Americana today”

-No Depression

“Shapeshifter is… a stunning folktale packaged in accessible, resonant music with a local heartbeat and a global appeal.”- The Bluegrass Situation

With deft emotional balance and bright musical agility, Americana duo Violet Bell tells a story of deliverance on their sophomore album Shapeshifter. Lizzy Ross’s voice simmers and soars, while Omar Ruiz-Lopez flows with dynamic musicianship on fiddle, guitar, and banjo.

Weaving an ancient - but timely - folktale with enchanting melodies and luscious harmonies, Shapeshifter subtly but purposefully pushes the boundaries of the folk tradition. Produced with the GRAMMY-nominated Jason Richmond (Avett Brothers), Shapeshifter boasts contributions from members of Mipso, Tatiana Hargreaves, and Joe Troop (Che Appalache).

Most recently, Violet Bell supported Valerie June and Aoife O’Donovan on tour and completed UK and US tours co-billing with Emily Scott Robinson and NPR Tiny Desk Winner Alisa Amador.

Omar Ruiz-Lopez is currently recording a solo album, and Lizzy Ross is creating original linocut prints and visual art with an album in the works. For the latest news, follow Omar Ruiz-Lopez here and follow Lizzy Ross here.
